Peanuts

The Peanuts

The peanut, or groundnut, is a species in the legume or "bean" family. The peanut was probably first domesticated and cultivated in the valleys of Paraguay. It is an annual herbaceous plant growing 30 to 50 cm tall.

Groundnuts (Arachis hypogaea) or peanuts are legumes that are widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. As a member of the legume family, peanuts have the ability to provide nitrogen fixation and improve the nutrient levels of soil . In this context, peanuts are often used in crop rotation.
